Those Falling Leaves

Fall is fast approaching

What a beautiful time of year!!
But those falling leaves can cause some problems.Your gutters drain and divert thousands of gallons of water off your roof and away from your house’s exterior and foundation walls. That’s why it is so important to make sure your gutters are clear of leaves and other debris. Clogged gutters can lead to water damage on the house exterior.  Excess water around your foundation can also lead to water in your basement. Before the leaves start to fly this fall check your gutters. If they need cleaning, do so before those leaves turn to falling flakes of snow!!

It is also a good time to check to seal  gaps around windows and doors.  Since you are outside be sure to include draining your hoses.  Be sure to disconnect them from the outside water faucet.

This is also the season for service.  Schedule your annual furnace cleaning and check.  Be sure to change the filter.  If you have a humidifier you should make sure that is included in this check up.  This filter should also be cleaned or replaced.  If you have a fireplace you need to have the chimney cleaned. Creosote build up creates a possible fire hazard.

Keeping your home and systems in good condition keeps your family safe.  Check your smoke and CO2 detectors should be on your schedule as well.

Enjoy this wonderful  time of year and knowing your home is ready for the winter.
